How Laser Tattoo Removal Works
Tattoo removal is a safe and effective process that uses advanced medical-grade laser technology. High-intensity laser pulses target the ink particles in your skin, breaking them down into microscopic fragments that are absorbed by macrophages and then carried away naturally by your body’s lymphatic system. Each treatment session targets more ink, allowing for progressive fading while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.
Understanding Your Tattoo Removal Journey
Every client journey is unique since there are many factors that can influence how quickly your tattoo fades. Things like the color, location, brand of ink, application, and age of your tattoo all play a role. The way your tattoo was originally applied and your body’s own healing process also affect results.
Overall, sticking to a consistent schedule and spacing your treatments every 8 weeks is key. Your immune system needs time to process the broken-down ink.
As you go through the process, you’ll notice your tattoo gradually lighten with each session. Some treatments may deliver more noticeable changes than others, and the last 20% of ink often takes the longest to remove. However, every tattoo responds a little differently.
“While I just recently started my tattoo removal process, I am fully confident and comfortable with Caddell’s professionalism, empathy, and abilities. Debbie makes each session a little easier with her consideration and understanding. Not only is she friendly and professional, but she also is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her work.”

Your Laser Tattoo Removal Process
During your laser tattoo removal, you’ll feel quick, painful pulses of light as the laser targets the ink. You’ll also hear a snapping sound from the laser. Most describe the feeling as hot bacon grease splattering the skin.
For pain management, we provide cooling air, topical numbing cream, and a squeeze ball for stress relief.
For the best healing, avoid heat for at least 24 hours—this means no hot yoga, cardio workouts, or saunas. Please also avoid hot tubs for three days. You may apply aloe or cortisone immediately after treatment for comfort.
Be sure to review your full post-care instructions, and contact your esthetician anytime with questions or concerns.

Frequently Asked Question
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the tattoo’s color, location, application, and brand of ink. Black and red tattoos generally require fewer sessions than multicolored pieces. Old tattoos may remove faster than new ones. We’ll provide a realistic estimate during your consultation based on your specific tattoo.
Does tattoo removal hurt?
Yes, you should expect pain during the treatment. It’s generally more painful than getting the original tattoo. However, we offer pain management including cooling air, topical numbing cream, and stress relief tools. We also provide plenty of breaks depending on your pain tolerance.
How far apart are treatments spaced?
We recommend spacing your tattoo removal or lightening treatments 8 weeks apart. This timing allows your immune system to process the broken-down ink.
What’s your pricing?
We use progressive pricing rather than packages because tattoo removal and lightening response varies greatly between individuals and tattoos. Some tattoos require more sessions than others, and we want you to pay fairly based on your actual treatment needs rather than predetermined packages that may not match your specific removal or lightening timeline. Book a consult for a customized quote.
Can you remove/lighten all tattoo colors?
We can treat most tattoo colors, though some respond better than others. Black and red inks typically remove and lighten most easily. Blue, green, and yellow can be more challenging. Because lasers target color and can’t see white, a tattoo with white ink cannot be removed or lightened. We’ll assess your specific tattoo colors during consultation and provide honest expectations.
What should I expect the healing process to look like?
Light swelling, redness, and blistering are all normal healing responses. Between sessions, your tattoo will continue to fade as your immune system processes the ink. For complete removal, the process requires patience and commitment for up to 2-3 years.

“If you are considering getting minimal tattoo removal for the purpose of tattooing over it, this is hands-down the best place. Debbie respected my tattoo artist’s opinion on how much removal was necessary in order for her to feel comfortable with covering it up successfully. I had three removal sessions total. If I ever need anything removed in the future, I will definitely return to Caddell’s!”
